No love ya longtime

M.I.A. again.
Eish!
I have many excuses for disappearing off the map. But with "multitasking" being the buzz word synonymous with popular postmodern attempts at self-actualized existences, I'm thinking neither work nor any combination of socializing/gym/friends/family/church/feeding-the-poor-whilst-fighting-for-world-peace is gonna cut it as valid excuses for not being able to write a blog entry in over a month.

But because I'm so darn tired, I'm just going to skip the guilt-ridden self-flagellation and get straight to placing myself back on the metaphorical blogging map. And as luck would have it, I also happen to have an actual physical map that indicates where I've been spending a lot of my time these past few weeks and why I'm so darn tired:

Dear readers,

As part of my main running goal each year, I support a charity close to my heart by raising funds during the months I am training. As part of my training for the Two Oceans Ultra marathon, I would like to try and raise R5600 (that is R100 per kilometer I will have to complete) for Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders South Africa. To read more about the wonderful humanitarian work done by this organization, visit their website.

Donations of any size will be greatly appreciated. You can donate via credit card or EFT by visiting my GivenGain profile. Many thanks for your support!

About

This blog is not going to be about wine consumption.*

:(
I know.

But let's be honest. Who reads about wine ? If you're not drinking it, frankly, you're doing it wrong.

Thus, to clear away any lingering confusion: This blog will be about...running.

More specifically, this blog will be about running slowly. Sometimes aimlessly. Often in circles.

It might also be about the thinking behind the running. Also often in circles. Covering anything from the meaning of life to the plotting of revenge strategies against the student next door who thinks it acceptable to continuously honk his horn at 4am on a Saturday morning to have his housemate open the gate for him. (Grrrrrr!)

Running shakes loose the thoughts that hold the mind in a tight grip. And writing opens the door through which they're allowed to escape into the world to either go forth and prosper or, if it's their destiny, spontaneously combust.

And that's the point.

(That and the weblebrity thing of course.)

Amateur runner met amateur writer.
They got drunk.
And before anyone could say fartlek workout...
a blog was conceived.
